1988- Leader of The National League for Democracy Daw Aung San Suu Kuy
In 1988 her party won 75% of the seats in the National Assembly but the military dictatorship cancelled the result. She was in House-arrest until 1996. In 1990 she received the Nobel Peace Prize.
