Zury Ríos is a lading member of Frente Republicano Guatemalteco F.R.G, From 2004 Vice-President of the Foreign Affairs' Committee. She is daughter of José Efraín Ríos Montt, former dictator and 2000-01 President of the Congress. Her mother stood as Presidential candidate in 1995 but she was turned down by the election committee because of her relation to Ríos Montt. In 2004 she married the US Republican Congressman Jerry Weller. (b. 1968-).
