1935-41 Leader of the Opposition Woizero Scheuareged Gedlie
During the war with Italian occupation. She was the activist of Red Cross. Until 1939 political prisoner. She was called “ethiopian Boadicea”.

1986- Leader of the Ethiopian Unity People’s Voice Congress Political Party Yeharerwerk Gashaw
Has lived outside Ethiopia since 1979, she was banned from running as presidential candidate in 1994.

2008- Chairperson of chairperson of Kinijit/UDJ Bertukan Mideksa
Also known as Birtukan, she is a lawyer and has previously been imprisoned two years for her opposition to the government.
