The Assembly of European Regions
AER is a political organization of the regions of Europe and the speaker for their interests at European and international level. Its mission is to bring together the regions of Europe and to allow them to act in the construction of Europe and European integration. The AER currently has 250 member Regions from 25 countries and 12 member interregional organizations.

2000-04 President Liese Prokop 
Deputy in the Niederösterreich Landtag since 1969 and from 1981 member of the state government and its Vice-Minister-President since 1992  essentially responsible for sport, old age pensioners and nursing homes, promotion of the employed, youth hostels, youth, family and senior citizens, protection of young people, assistance for the handicapped, grant for home development, housing, youth welfare, women’s issues. Federal Minister of the Interior from 2004. (b. 1941-).
